Why convert HTML to DOCX?
- Edit web content in Word — rework an article, policy or documentation page.
- Create printable documents — Word gives you page layout, headers and footers.
- Archive — keep a copy of a web page in an editable office format.
How the conversion works
The HTML is cleaned of scripts, styles and interactive elements, then each element is rebuilt as Word content with native headings, numbering and tables.
What is an HTML file?
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the language of web pages. An HTML file is plain text with tags such as <h1> for headings, <p> for paragraphs and <img> for pictures. Any web browser can open it, on any operating system, without extra software.
HTML is a convenient format for reading and sharing documents: it keeps headings, lists, tables, links and emphasis, and a single file can even carry its images embedded inside it.
What is a DOCX file?
DOCX is the default document format of Microsoft Word since 2007, standardised as Office Open XML (ISO/IEC 29500). A DOCX file is a ZIP archive containing XML files for the text, styles, numbering and comments, plus a media folder for images.
Because it is an open standard, DOCX also opens in Google Docs, LibreOffice, Apple Pages, WPS Office and Hancom Office. Older Word files with the .doc extension use a different binary format and are not the same as DOCX.
