  • Share a page anywhere — images display directly in chats, social media and presentations.
  • Use in other apps — insert pages into slides, documents or image editors.
  • Thumbnails and previews — create preview images of documents for websites.

How the conversion works

Each selected page is rendered by PDF.js at the chosen resolution onto a white background and saved as a JPG at high quality. Pages are processed one at a time to keep memory use low.

What is a PDF file?

PDF (Portable Document Format) was created by Adobe and is now an open ISO standard (ISO 32000). A PDF fixes the exact layout of every page — fonts, images and positions — so a document looks the same on every screen and printer. That makes it the standard for contracts, invoices, manuals, papers and forms.

Inside, a PDF stores each page as drawing instructions. Text written by a program is stored as real characters (a “text layer”) and can be selected and extracted. Scanned documents usually store only a picture of each page, so their text cannot be extracted without OCR.

What is a JPG file?

JPG (or JPEG) is the most common photo format. It uses lossy compression that discards detail the eye barely notices, which keeps files small — ideal for photos, scans and sharing by email or messenger. Every device, browser and image app can open it.

JPG does not support transparency, and repeated re-saving slowly reduces quality. Cameras and phones also store an orientation tag (EXIF) that tells apps how to rotate the picture for display.

Frequently asked questions

Which resolution should I choose?

150 DPI suits screens, documents and sharing. Choose 300 DPI for printing or zooming into fine detail, and 72 DPI for small previews and thumbnails.

JPG or PNG?

JPG produces much smaller files and is ideal for pages with photos. PNG is lossless and keeps small text and line art perfectly sharp, at a larger file size.

How are the images named?

Images are named after the PDF with the page number, for example report-1.jpg, report-2.jpg. Numbers are zero-padded for longer documents (report-01.jpg … report-12.jpg) so they sort in page order.

Is there a page limit?

There is no fixed limit, but very large documents at 300 DPI use a lot of memory. On phones, convert large PDFs in smaller page ranges.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Pages are rendered inside your browser.
