Why convert HTML to EPUB?
- Read long articles comfortably — e-reader apps give you pagination, adjustable fonts and night mode.
- Offline reading — keep documentation, tutorials or web novels on your e-reader without an internet connection.
- Archive — EPUB keeps the content in a compact, standard, future-proof format.
How the conversion works
The HTML is parsed and cleaned: scripts, styles and interactive elements are removed and the remaining structure is rewritten as valid XHTML. The content is split into chapters at its headings and packaged as an EPUB 3 file with a table of contents.
What is an HTML file?
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the language of web pages. An HTML file is plain text with tags such as <h1> for headings, <p> for paragraphs and <img> for pictures. Any web browser can open it, on any operating system, without extra software.
HTML is a convenient format for reading and sharing documents: it keeps headings, lists, tables, links and emphasis, and a single file can even carry its images embedded inside it.
What is an EPUB file?
EPUB (Electronic Publication) is the most widely used open e-book standard, maintained by the W3C. An EPUB file is a ZIP archive that contains one XHTML page per chapter, CSS stylesheets, images, fonts, and a package file listing the reading order and metadata such as title, author and language.
Because the text is reflowable, EPUB adapts to any screen size. Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo and most other reading apps open EPUB natively, and Kindle accepts EPUB through Send to Kindle.
